- file "VBRUN300.DLL" provided. This is done in some cases
- to save disk space and download time. VBRUN300.DLL is widely
- available and in fact may already be in your windows\system
- directory. Vbrun300.dll is required for this program to function.
- It will be necessary to obtain a copy of VBRUN300.DLL in order
- to install and run this program.

- System requirements.
-
- 1. The minimum system recommended for this program is
- a 486/33 with 4 megs of RAM and windows 3.x.
-
- 2. Chicken Soup and Such requires a great deal of processor
- power to animate the sequences of this program satisfactorily.
- Slower processors may not be able to handle the animation
- requirements, paricularly if sound effects are selected.

- 3. It may be necessary to disable the Screen Saver sounds on
- some slower processors.
-
- What is this thing?
-
- 1. Chicken Soup and Such is a collection of 3 weird
- and somewhat tasteless animated sequences that operate
- as a screen saver when your computer is not actively
- being used. You can input up to 7 messages and select
- which one to use (if any) while the screen saver runs.
- You can also password protect your computer if desired.
- The program can be started from its Icon or as a
- standard screen saver.

- 2. Chicken Soup: This sequence consists of a beheaded chicken
- running by, dripping blood on your screen as he goes.
-
- 3. Bat Guano: (Only a demo provided until the program is
- registered) This sequence consists of 2 bats flying by
- your screen dropping bat guano as they go.

- 4. Hog Heaven: (Only a demo provided until the program is
- registered) This sequence consists of a hog digging up
- your screen as he passes by. He can unearth trash as
- he goes.

- How do I install the program?
-
- a. Start Microsoft Windows.
-
- b. From the Window's Program Manager, select FILE MENU
- and choose RUN. For windows 95 select start then
- Run.
-
- c. Select Browse, then find the drive and directory to
- which Tasteless Screen Saver is located on your
- CD-ROM. Double click on the file "SETUP.EXE"
- then click on the O.K. command button.

- d. Follow the prompts from the setup program.
-
- How do I make Chicken Soup and Such the active screen saver?
-
- 1. Select "yes" to the inquiry during installation that
- asks if you want Chicken Soup and Such to be installed
- as the current screen saver. This will place Chicken Soup
- and Such as the current screen saver on your system.
-
- 2. You can select Adjust from the Bridge to Miscellaneous icon
- to access the Adjust Utility in the program. Turn the Chicken
- Soup and Such screen saver function on or off as well as
- selecting the amount inactive keyboard or mouse time before
- the screen saver portion of the program starts.

- Alternative method for making Chicken Soup and Such the active screen
- saver.
-
- 1. Once Chicken Soup and Such is successfully installed, it may be
- selected as the current screen saver from windows.

- Windows 3x................
-
- a. From the Windows Program Manager, select MAIN.
-
- b. From MAIN select CONTROL PANEL.
-
- c. From CONTROL PANEL select DESK TOP.
-
- d. From DESK TOP select the arrow key next to SCREEN
- SAVER.
-
- e. From the menu, select CHICKEN SOUP (sstless1).
-
- Widows 95.................
-
- a. From the Desk Top right click on the screen background
- away from any icon.
-
- b. From the menu that appears, select Properties.
-
- c. From Display Properties select Screen Saver.
-
- d. From the saver list, select CHICKEN SOUP (sstless1).
-
- 2. The above steps will select Chicken Soup and Such as the
- current screen saver. Use the SET UP button to select
- the features of the program you want.
-
- 3. Push the TEST button to run the screen saver program
- as a test.
-
- 4. Select the desired inactive time for the screen saver
- program to implement itself.
-
- How do I use the program from the Windows Program Manager?
-
- 1. If the Chicken Soup and Such program group is not open, double
- click on the Chicken Soup and Such program group.
-
- 2. To run Soup and Such, double click its Icon.
-
- 3. The program will start in the Set Up Mode. Select the
- options you want, then push the Start Screen Saver button
- to start the program.
-
- 4. Touch Start: Double click the Touch Start button provided
- in the Chicken Soup and Such program group to activate the
- touch start hot corners. A green line will appear at the
- bottom or top of your screen after exiting the setup portion
- of the program. The green line indicates where to place your
- mouse to start Chicken Soup and Such. Touch Start activation
- can be terminated by moving the mouse pointer to the red line
- on the screen.

- Click the Touch Start button in the menu bar of the setup
- program to set the touch start options.
-
- Select help from the Touch Start form for the option of
- placing the Chicken Soup and Such screen saver program group
- in the program manager's Start Up program group to have Touch
- Start activate each time windows is started. If the Touch
- Start ON check box is activated, Touch Start will reactivate
- itself after the screen saver portion of Chicken Soup and Such
- has terminated.

- Password and Security.
-
- 1. The unregistered version of the program will not use Bat Guano
- or Hog Heaven if a password is specified. The registered version
- provides password protection for a all 3 screen savers. NOTE:
- When password protection is used, the keyboard should be used
- to initiate termination of the program, since mouse movement
- may not supply an end message to the program.

- 2. Windows 95 allows the user to select a program choice from
- a list of active programs if the combination keys (ctrl + Alt +
- Del) are pressed. This may provide a way to close this
- program, effectively negating the security provided
- by password protection. If you must have security with windows
- 95, you can force the computer to reboot if the (ctrl + Alt +
- Del) key combination is selected. Insure you have a secure
- password for entering windows 95 when the computer reboots and
- your computer should be reasonably secure. To force the
- computer to reboot with the above key combination you must
- add the following line to the [386Enh] section of your windows
- SYSTEM.INI file. NOTE: the SYSTEM.INI file can be found in
- your windows directory.

- How do I register? (Please insure your computer can handle
- this program successfully before making the registration
- decision).

- 1. How much? $10.00 (Gets you a Magic Key only, no disk will
- be sent).

- 2. Your program is converted to the registered version after
- the proper registration Magic Key is received from Accidental
- Software and entered into the program. You will need to
- supply Accidental Software the Key ID number for your program.

- 3. Obtain your REGISTRATION KEY ID number from the REGISTRATION
- button in main program . Your REGISTRATION KEY ID
- is also on your registration form if you decide to print one.

- 4. Call 1-800-771-6746 or 1-619-247-2804 with your Visa or
- MasterCard and we will provide you with the Registration
- Magic Key you need to convert your program to the registered
- version. You can also FAX us at 1-619-247-6819 with your
- Visa or MasterCard Information. We will FAX your
- Registration Magic Key number back after credit verification.

- 5. Alternately, print out a registration form and send it
- along with a check or money order to Accidental Software.

- Keyboard input.
-
- 1. This program can be terminated by pushing any key on the
- keyboard with the following exception. "M" will mute the
- sounds for a particular screen saver if the Screen Saver
- Sounds ON check box has been activated for that Screen Saver.
- The mute funtion is not immediate, if a sound is currently
- playing, it will continue. No additional sounds will be heard
- after the present sound has completed playing. If Screen
- Saver Sounds OFF is selected for that Screen Saver, the "M"
- key will cancel the program.

- 2. If more than one of the 3 Screen Savers have been selected,
- the program will run them one after the other. In this case,
- pushing the "M" key will only mute the sounds for the Screen
- Saver presently running.

- 3. The sounds can be turned ON or OFF for the setup portion of
- the program and individually selected ON or OFF for each of
- the 3 Screen Saver items in this program.

- Uninstall.
-
- Use this Icon to remove Chicken Soup and Such from
- your hard drive. This Icon will remove all files that were
- installed to your hard drive by this program, with the
- following exceptions.

- GAUGE.VBX
- THREED.VBX
- SPIN.VBX
- VBRUN300.DLL
-
- These files may be required for other windows programs and
- are not removed by uninstall for this reason. These files
- reside in your windows\system sub directory and can be
- manually removed if desired. Uninstall will not remove
- the Chicken Soup and Such screen savers program group from
- windows. The Chicken Soup and Such program group must be
- removed in the usual manner by the user.
